Finally got some time to paint outside again.

By this time these flowers are gone until next year.

Spring is not here yet!!

Went up to Ringwood Sunday morning.
The wind was chilly, about 29° we set up
in the south part over looking the lake. The grasses
were a bright straw color in full sun. It was next to
impossible to to get the value of the grasses bright enough.
With the help of a little Permalba White w/ linseed oil and
cad yellow medium, I managed to get a little closer.
It was a great morning....Enjoy ED

Dalvay Light 3

Sorry this photo came out bad it was dark this
morning and I shot it without a flash. There is
way more color in this painting that you can
see right now. Last night I worked on the sand
and grasses. I worked in a lot of reds into the sand.
I also added sunlight on top plains with blue into
the shadows. I need next to work on the lighthouse
again to finish the rails. Were getting there....Enjoy!!!ED

The Last Snow 2011

Painted with the group at Ringwood Sunday.
There was some wind gust but the temp was mid 30°s
nice for staying out a little longer. I painted on a 24x18
linen canvas. I wanted to use bigger brushes and have some fun
painting the clouds and sky. Anyway while walking back to the
parking lot a gust of wind below my canvas down the parking lot.

It landed face down on the pavement picking up every morsel of
sand and dirt it touched. I picked it up used a four inch brush to wipe
off as much as I could. Some of the clouds are still there I could make
them out. Anyway I cooled down a little and thought I still had a
great morning being up here!!!! Enjoy! ED

Painting is like fishing

Sunday Feb 13th got up to paint looked like an
over cast uninspiring day. I threw my paints
and easel into the car and stopped for coffee on
my way up to the mountains. Temperature was
19° we walked over the ice crusted snow on near
the river edge. I was glad to capture this moment
on this day. You never know. Painting is like fishing.

Halloween 2010

The temperature was around 38° in the morning.
I painted along a stream where I noticed a burning
bush near the edge of the water. It kind of reminded
me of a spring scene because of the light pink colors
in the leaves of the bush. A black ferret was running
along the rocks. That made my day!

End of Summer 2010

Over the July and August months I spent a lot
of time down the Jersey Shore. The surf was
ruff this year with the many storms off the coast.
I was inspired by the determination of the
surf bums. Looking for the perfect ride.

Sunday, May 23rd 2010

It looked like rain in the morning that day
around 6:00 am. Almost went back to sleep
but got dressed and made it up to Skylands.
There was a mist rolling over the mountains
but it never rained. The conditions were really
interesting....Enjoy! Ed

April 26th, 2010

We managed to get good sketches done in the
morning before we got rained on. Still enjoyed
the conditions of the day "lots of greens".

Sunday, March 7th 2010

Got to work on a painting I started two weeks ago.
The coniditions were the same. Except it was
only 36° outside. I had a great day that morning.
The birds were making a racket "Spring is coming."

Sunday, February 21st sketch

Went up to paint this Sunday. I wanted to get
at least one more painting of the snow before it
all disappears. Its getting lighter in the morning
the temperature was around 32˚. A gust of wind
came from nowhere and almost knocked over my easel.
That's when I decided to quit while I was ahead....
